26-th of February, 2016 at 17.00 in the City art gallery of works of L. Shchemelev will take place the opening of the exhibition "Rhythms of time", which will feature a graphic works, photographs, documents of the people's artist of Belarus, L. D. Shchemelev.
February is a special month for Leonid Shchemelev. Traditionally, in the solo gallery of artist to the day of his birth is opened a new exhibition. No exception this year. At the exhibition "Rhythms of time" is presented more than thirty graphic works from the family collection, in which famous painter is manifested as a rigorous schedule, a talented graphic artist, researcher, traveler, gentle, loving husband and father.
At the exhibition is presented the sketches, drawings, etudes, made by Leonid Dmitrievich in different years during travellings. This creative journeys 1960 – 1980 – ies – in Karelia, Dagestan, Central Asia, to the far North of Europe. In addition, are exhibited in the hall sketches,drawings for paintings' works, painted the main stages of the artist's work on creating large-scale paintings. Among them is a sketch for one of the most significant works of L. Shchemelev – the painting "My birth" (1965 – 1966). Here, the viewer can see the search for compositional solutions, technical experiments with errors and corrections,and is the real revelation of the artist. My pictures are my diaries,in which I give away with my head himself," says the author.
